City
Museum
The
undeveloped real estate for this fictional project is located at
the intersection of two important streets in the heart of Wiesbaden,
the capital of Germany`s federal state Hessen. The community tried
to find out what a museum for the city, which should represent their
history, could look like. Therefore a small group of students of
architecture began to plan. An important aspect was to integrate
the building into the developed area which sorrounds it. The only
condition we had was to comply with the given space programme.

Design Idea
My
idea was to create an architectural design which supports the effect
of the objects on display inside the museum. The architecture should
not distract from the exhibition. So the building is structured
into three parts:
- the closed cubes which contain the exhibitions
- the bright central rotunda which works as a centre for communication,
information and orientation
- the museum café with its dominant pillars which are to
remind of the Roman times in Wiesbaden, and which you can see in
many areas of the city.
